This fire station is a 16,000 sq. ft. renovation and addition to the existing facility. A unique feature of this project is that the fire department is actually a private corporation which contracts with the local township for fire protection. Faced with limited funding, Vetter Design Group worked with Mosser Construction in a design/build effort to construct the new facility, using an economical pre-engineered building system with a decorative concrete block veneer. The tower at the front of the building is a fully functioning hose tower, which too is unique and rare to today's fire service, but one of three that we have recently designed. The small site and the physical limitations of the existing building provided a design challenge, which was satisfied by creating an office/training/living quarters within the former apparatus bays, and a new addition for the location of today's larger and heavier fire apparatus in a functional arrangement.
