Sustainable design is intended to eliminate negative environmental impact from construction and occupant use of the built environment through skillful design. To help gauge and foster sustainable design, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) developed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, better known as LEED. The U.S. Green Building Council is a non-profit organization created to support and promote sustainable building design and practice. To standardize the practice of sustainable architecture the LEED rating system was created. LEED is a national rating system tooled to transform the design and construction markets by measurably reducing carbon dioxide emissions during building component production, during construction, and throughout a building's lifecycle. Today, Vetter Design Group is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council with staff accredited to design certified LEED buildings.
Vetter Design Group is currently working on the New Marshall Elementary School projected to be LEED Silver certified.
